GN Company recently completed production of one unit of Decanter Centrifuge, and it was expected to be delivered to client's job site for chemical salt crystal dewatering soon. GN Company Technical Engineers suggest T series Decanter Centrifuge for this project. This kind of Decanter Centrifuge is mainly used for dewatering application, with high solid content sludge and high abrasion. In order to protect decanter from abrasion, GN Technical Engineers design and install tungsten carbide plates around screw and the solid discharge port. Operators can adjust pump feeding rate, drum and screw rotation speed and liquid wire plate during actual operation, in order to achieve the best performance.

The control cabinet of GN Decanter Centrifuge is made of stainless steel, with protection level IP55 or above. The main motor, back up motor, and feeding inlet pump are all under VFD control in the cabinet. The electrical components are all from international reputable brand.

GN Company completed production of one set of Filter Press Dewatering System, including Filter Press, Polymer Dosing System, and Sludge Feeding Pump. The system had been shipped to client’s job site, and would be used for sewage treatment.

Comparing with Decanter Centrifuge and Dewatering Screw Press, Filter Press has better dewatering performance, and its outlet cake is drier than the other dewatering equipment. Filter Press achieves the dewatering application by pressing device, and then the suspension is pumped into filter chamber for solid liquid separation by filter cloth.

There are different types of filter press, including Manual Jack Filter Press, Mechanical Filter Press, Hydraulic Filter Press, Automatic Filter Press, and Membrane Filter Press.

For operation of Filter Press, the operators shall know the basic operation process and daily maintenance of filter press, in order to avoid harm caused to operators and the machine. And when malfunction happens, the operators shall turn off the power. The operators shall not disassemble the hydraulic system and electricity without training in advance. Please don’t adjust transducer’s position and meter’s parameter without authorization. Factory settings are forbidden to adjust without authorization, otherwise it would be harmful or bring damage to filter press. Clients shall pay much attention to rotatable parts, in order to prevent injuries. Operators shall wear protective device when they work in special situation.

The filtration effect is affected by slurry’s condition, such as solid content, temperature, Ph value, particle size, etc. And for some project, flocculent can help filter press to get better performance.

GN Company completed production of one unit of Screw Press, model 201, polymer preparation unit, model 500L, and sludge feeding pump (progressive cavity type). After final trail test, then the system would be shipped to client’s job site.

Besides Decanter Centrifuge and Filter Press, Sludge Dewatering Screw Press is also one of the main equipment used for sludge dewatering. Dewatering Screw Press has obvious advantages of low energy cost, low footprint, low investment, and low operation cost.

Here it is description about the dewatering process of Screw Press.

The sludge is firstly feed into metering tank, generally by pump. And then the sludge flows into the flocculation mixing tank, and the excess sludge flows back to the sludge tank from the overflow pipe. Meanwhile polymer flocculent is feed into the flocculation mixing tank, where it is completely mixing with the feeding inlet sludge. The mixture would be feed into the dewatering section of the screw press, and this flow is gravity flow. During the process of dewatering, the screw pitch of screw gradually becomes smaller and compressed by the pressing plate, so that the internal pressure in the main body becomes larger. When dewatering process is complete, then the mud cake is discharged.

Decanter Centrifuge is the main equipment for sludge dewatering, and it achieves solid liquid separation by centrifugal force, which is created by the high speed rotation of bowl part. There are two motors for Decanter, and main motor is used for the Bowl, and back-up motor is used for the scroll. Their rotation speed of bowl and scroll is same, while speed is different. Thus it creates a differential speed to separate solid and liquid. Decanter Centrifuge is continuously working machine and highly automatic.

For dewatering capacity of Decanter, both Bowl Speed and g-force are important. But that is not to say that dewater capacity would increase as bowl speed increases, because capacity has limited value because of bowl size of decanter. And at higher speed, the screw would suffer greater resistance to discharge sludge, and become more quickly to get abrasion. Higher speed also reduces the working hours/life of Decanter. So it's best to keep the Decanter within the range of its optimal speed. GN Decanter’s speed can be adjustable through VFD in the control cabinet.
