Cutting-edge research and product development is the soul of GN. Through trial and error, GN new generation decanter centrifuges finally come out. The mechanical design and electric control system are updated to a new high level.

Compact Mechanical Design

The primary motor and the secondary motor set at the one side and leave much room for operator to get access to rotating assembly. Collection box cover supporting system is installed with which much labor can be saved when opening the collection box and doing the maintenance.

VFD PLC Control Panel

In addition to the normal VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) Centrifuge. GN also developed DECANTER CENTRIFUGE controlled and monitored by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Compared to other centrifuges, it requires fewer operating personnel and features automatic adjustment for different operating conditions.

GN decanter centrifuge was shown at Colombia Oil and Gas 2013 (XV Congreso Colombiano de Petróleo y Gas 2013). This provides a good chance for Latin America customers to take a close look at GN efficient centrifuge.

GNLW223 is purpose built decanter centrifuge for diamond and mining drilling which requires a small amount of drilling mud and smallest footprint as possible for the drilling equipment. The typical treating capacity of this unit is 26 GPM (6 cbm/h). The g-force can reach to 1777 at 3800RPM and 2492 at 4500RPM.

Recently, we have finished the production of a batch of GNLW223 decanter centrifuge. It is 578kg without motor on. It can be easily torn down into pieces for helicopter transport to remote areas.

A complete set of GNLW363G decanter centrifuge was on display at ADIPEC 2013. This is the second time GN brought the decanter centrifuge there for the exhibition. The centrifuge unit had been ordered before it shipped to the exhibition hall.

GN centrifuge is specifically designed to process drilling mud, it is more durable and stable with Screw Conveyer protected Tungsten Carbide Tile and Discharge Ports by tungsten carbon allay ring. High fluid recovery rates and efficient solids control can done to meet the highest environmental standards. GNLW series decanter centrifuge stand out from other centrifuge manufacturers due to its high quality material, high-accuracy machining and reasonable price.

VFD and PLC control decanter centrifuge are also available.

Two units of GNLW553VFD decanter centrifuge and feed pumps are packed for delivery to Nigeria. The two units will be installed following vertical cuttings dryer in drill cuttings treatment system.

GNLW553VFD is “Soft Start” Variable Speed Drive Centrifuge with high volume processing up to 400GPM. The VFD positive pressurized cabinet enables low amperage start-ups and smoother rpm changes to minimise amp drain in the motor.

The single screw pump is an ideal transfer pump for feeding to decanter centrifuge without shearing or agitating the drilling mud. If you'd like to learn more about drilling waste management equipment, please view at www.gnsolidscontrol.com

Differential speed is the difference between the bowl speed and the conveyor speed. The differential is provided by the gearbox which transmits power from the bowl to the conveyor. This is required in order to transport the solid particles that collect on the bowl inner diameter using conveyor. The differential speed determines how long the solid particles remain in the bowl.

The differential speed is decisive for the time that the solid particles remain in the decanter centrifuge, and the compression that it undergoes. It is important and necessary to be able to set the differential speed variably, because changing drilling mud properties in the feed lead to differing conditions, and thus it is possible to keep the total dry solids of the solid at an optimum level. Many centrifuge manufacturers provide a “back drive” which can independently alter the speed. Back drive units are, in effect, hydraulic gear reduction systems used to vary the speed of the conveyor relative to the bowl.

Differential speed adjustment and its advantages

  • The differential speed makes it possible to keep the solids in the decanter bowl for the ideal length of time
  • Optimum dewatering with fluctuating feed conditions
  • Optimum setting of the total dry solids that can be achieved
  • Protection against overload and blockage
  • Variably adjustable differential speed can make it possible to do the treatment of an extremely wide range of drilling mud
