GN Separation has successfully delivered 3 sets of GNLW654-VFD decanter centrifuges to support a municipal wastewater treatment project in a North African country. Each centrifuge is equipped with temperature and vibration sensors, and they are controlled by a 4-VFD control cabinet, which manages the main motor, auxiliary motor, slurry pump, and dosing metering pump. Technical Advantages of the GNLW654-VFD Decanter Centrifuge
The GNLW654-VFD decanter centrifuge is part of GN Separation's T series, designed specifically for dewatering and thickening applications. With a bowl beach angle of 8.5 degrees, this centrifuge provides excellent dewatering performance, especially when processing municipal wastewater sludge. It is ideal for separating materials with large particle sizes, significant solid-liquid density differences, and high concentration.
The centrifuge features a longer dewatering zone, thanks to its optimized beach angle, allowing for drier solid discharge. The bowl and shaft caps are made from duplex stainless steel (SUS2205 or SUS2304) through centrifugal casting, which provides superior resistance to corrosion and wear. The screw conveyor is designed using CNC-pressed spiral blades, offering higher efficiency and extended service life compared to traditional blades.
Ease of Operation and Maintenance
The GNLW654-VFD centrifuge is not only efficient but also designed for ease of operation and maintenance. Its VFD+PLC+HMI system enables real-time monitoring of parameters like speed, bearing temperature, and vibration. In the event of overload or abnormal vibration, the centrifuge will automatically protect itself, ensuring safe operation.
Additionally, the centrifuge is equipped with SKF high-end bearings and can be fitted with an automatic lubrication system, which helps extend the service life of the equipment and reduces maintenance efforts.
Application in the North Africa Project
In this municipal wastewater treatment project in North Africa, the 3 sets of GNLW654-VFD decanter centrifuges are being used to dewater municipal sludge. Since the sludge contains fine particles, a chemical flocculation process is required, in which the chemical dosing unit is used to coagulate the fine particles into larger aggregates. The T series decanter centrifuges then effectively separate the solid and liquid components, discharging clear liquid and drier solids, thus improving the efficiency of the wastewater treatment process.
