GN Thermal desorption unit and GN Drill cuttings drying system is the most popular equipment used for waste management. But many clients are wondering about their performance, they do not know how to choose the suitable type for their projects. Below is a simple introduction to tell the difference of the 2 systems.
Brief Introduction of GN Thermal desorption unit (TDU)
It is also called TDU. It utilizes thermal desorption to treat the oily conents. Normally, the materials treated by TDU, the solids control should be no less than 40%. Other wide, it cannot be spilled well in the pyrolysis furnace.
What kind of waste sludge can be treated by GN Thermal desorption unit (TDU)
In theory, all oil type solids whose vaporization point is below 420 degree centigrade could be treated with this system. The oil type solids above mentioned is oil waste and a certain amount solids, like mixture of mud and sand. The pyrolysis furnace roller in this design heat the material in spilling way, and the material is pushed forward by shoveling plates welled with a certain angle on the roller’s inner wall. If the material is only oily mud, the spilling character would be lower.

What kind of waste can be treated by GN Drill cuttings drying system
It can be used to treat the cuttings discharged from shale shaker, desander and desilter. It cannot used to remove solids control decanter centrifuge.
Difference of Thermal desorption unit VS Drill cuttings drying system
TDU can get clean water, clean oil and very dry solids with OOC≤0.05%. But the capacity is very small, 1~2 tons per hour.
Drill cuttings drying system use vertical cuttings dryer, and high speed decanter centrifuge to treat the waste material. It can reduce OOC to 3~5%. The fluids phase can be reused for drilling. It cannot get clean end products.
