When we mentioned cutting dryer, there are always 2 meanings. One is for High G dryer (Hi-G dryer), or named as high G shale shaker or cutting drying shale shaker. It is normally used for water based mud drilling cuttings. It is a special designed shale shaker with high G force and up to 7.5 or 8. And the G force is adjustable to suit for more applications. High G cutting dryer is with a longer screen deck and screen area, mostly 4-panel.

Another kind of cutting dryer is vertical cuttings dryer (short name as VG dryer). Vertical Cutting Dryer uses centrifugal force to dry drilled solids from OBM or SBM . A stainless steel screen bowl traps “wet” solids and make them speed up to 900RPM with G force to 420G. It can also offer super high speed 1200RPM with G force to 750G. Liquid is forced through the screen bowl openings, while “dry” solids are extracted by the angled flights attached to the cone, which rotate slightly slower than the bowl. Tungsten carbide surface welding protects the flights from abrasive and ensures long operational life. The purpose of this is maintaining a constant gap between the scroll and screen bowl, which is very important for proper operation.

In some cases, when people only mentioned cuttings dryer or cutting dryer, is means High G dryer shale shaker. And Vertical dryer is for vertical cuttings dryer.

High speed Decanter centrifuge

No matter high G dryer shale shaker or vertical cuttings dryer, after it, decander centrifuge should be used to separate the fine solids from the recoveried fluids. 14’’ decanter centrifuge is the most popular size. 18 inch and 22 inch big bowl is also normally used for big capacity. It is usually mounted on a telescopic skid and fed by a screw pump.

Screw conveyer

It is used to transfer drilled cuttings, feed for high G dryer shale shaker, vertical cuttings dryer. Screw conveyer can also used to transfer the drilled solids discharged from dryer to the collection position.
