Since last year, GN has sold to middle east market several sets of desander plants, for the HDD contractors. Besides Oil and Gas solids control and waste management equipments and systems, GN is also professional in mud recycling systems or called desander plants for HDD, CBM and Piling rigs.

In some jobsites in middle east countries, the drilling mud are conserved in a mud pit or buffer tank after drilling, and the mud recycling system or desander plant sometimes are located on a trailer and to be transported from one place to another to treat the mud.

There are always 2 steps of separation equipments in a standard mud recycling system for HDD drilling rigs, the shale shaker and the desander cones. In order to make the mud recycling system to be more compact, GN designed double deck shaker with desander cones. The drilling mud to be treated is firstly transported to the lower deck shaker, which has a bigger mesh holes than the upper one, it is the shale shaker phase. After that, the liquid phase of mud falls into the tank under the shaker and sucked by a centrifugal pump to the desander cones on top of the shaker. The liquid discharged from the desander are clean mud, while the solids part falls onto the shaker under the cones, this layer of shaker is located between the lower shaker and the desander cones, it is the drying shaker for desander cones. Above mentioned is the separation step. Then comes the mixing step. There is also a mud jet mixer in the system, to add necessary chemicals into the system.

A very famous middle east HDD contractor has purchased from GN Solids Control a set of 240 cubic meter HDD mud recycling system as a trial order, now they have tested it on their jobsite and it proved to have good performance. Now they are sending repeated order to GN
